Stress
Stress
Like most people today, we lead ever busier lives, often juggling work, children, friends and family. It can be difficult to find the time to address our problems. If problems are left unaddressed they can create a 'domino effect' and have a negative effect in other areas of our lives.
When we suffer from stress it can manifest itself both physically and emotionally. Most patients presenting with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, headaches, anxiety and skin conditions report a worsening of their condition during more stressful periods.
We all need a certain amount of stress in our lives to function at our optimum but if we are continuously subjected to stress it can lead to physical symptoms such as
- headache
- backache
- insomnia
- weight gain or loss
- skin conditions (psoriasis, eczema)
- IBS
- loss of sex drive
or emotional symptoms such as
- anxiety
- depression
- short temper
- impatience
- feelings of loneliness
or more general or behavioural symptoms such as
- poor memory
- poor concentration
- lack of motivation
- negative thinking
- excessive sleeping
- excessive use of alcohol, cigarettes or prescription drugs
- teeth grinding
- nail biting
- excessive and unnecessary spending
- overeating
Prolonged periods of stress can increase your risk of everything from heart disease, obesity, anxiety and depression to memory loss.
Hypnotherapy can help you identify your stress triggers and help you to cope with them more easily thereby lessening your chances of suffering from debilitating symptoms or illness.
